Paul Is Dead - The Fab Four are on a musical retreat in the Lake District when an incident occurs... (SLVimeo, nsfw swearing)
Paul is going to outlive us all (hopefully).

I think the biggest piece of evidence that Paul actually is dead is the existence of "Wonderful Christmastime" No way the man who wrote "Yesterday" also wrote that piece of dreck.

Dreck it is, but it's still a pretty good song. He probably made a bundle out of it, too. No, if Wonderful Christmastime proves anything, it's that he was still alive at the time, cashing in like a real, live human being.

I liked this.
Then on the closing credits, there's the silhouette of the Four strolling down the mountain. It's perfect.
That's when I realized just how excellent this really is.

This was fun. Thanks.
(warning - Beatles fanboi)
Yes Paul has written some dreck. Which, in this particular application refers to stuff that we here are too cool for, but that many others happened to enjoy. But the man's output has been prodigious, and so much of it is great, even to the cool.
I think that what impresses me most is he always seems to be creating music for its own sake, whether it's a Bond theme, or just banging out something on the acoustic to amuse his kid.
(ok that's irredeemably corny)
I'm quite enjoying the new album.

If you liked this (which I did very much), it’s worth checking out Two of Us, a fictionalized telling of John and Paul spending a day together in NY in 1976 — when they almost went to the SNL set during the show to play ... excellent film. Jared Harris, AKA Lane on Mad Men, is superb as John. Link is to full movie on YouTube.

I remember watching this when it first aired. It's particularly relevant to this discussion, as I recall that John in the movie keeps giving Paul crap for writing "Silly Love Songs".

"How long until these drugs wear off?"
"You haven't had any, John."
I really enjoyed it, too. It had the feeling of a real Beatles movie. I hope my Grade 6 general music teacher saw it, wherever she is out there. She spent most of a 10-week period teaching us about the whole "Paul is dead" thing and giving this young monster some interesting nightmares with the imagery.
When you consider the sheer volume of Paul's songwriting output, is the dreck to genius ratio really that high?

Brian Moriarty's outstanding presentation on the original "Paul is Dead" circus (all of his presentations are outstanding really, but this one is topical...)

Paul McCartney starts a 3 week run at US#1 with his solo debut album McCartney.
And the Grateful Dead have their first show outside the US at the Hollywood Rock Music Festival in Newcastle, England.

This was pretty great. And, pretty much canon in my head now. Also, poor Ringo. (Secretly Ringoist.)

Back in the day I used the same techniques to "prove" that Ringo was dead. Most of the evidence is from the booklet that came with Magical Mystery Tour. Ringo's Aunt Jessie squished him and then replaced him on the drums (also note the photo of the sergeant staring at the animated corpse of Ringo in horror). In a drawing of the Beatles as magicians, Ringo is the only one wearing purple, the color of death in Victorian England. In another drawing of the Beatles as magicians, Ringo is the only Beatle with his back turned. Ringo wears a rooster head; the rooster is one of the Three Poisons in the Buddhist Wheel of Life. There's a photo of Ringo with an inverted silver cup on his head, a common symbol of death.

I just finally saw this. I thought it was very well done. The actors don't really have the right looks but they do a good job with the characters. On the website they say there's talk of a feature version, and I think it might actually work.
The credits thank Jamie Lennon. I did a quick Googling and didn't find who that might be. One of John's relatives, presumably.
The McCartney-esque Till the Day After is the work of luckless "One Man Beatles" cult artist Emitt Rhodes. (Previously.)
