Mine HATES going to the groomer's but is perfectly okay with the vet even though it sometimes means getting her puppybutt probed.
I really wish that there was a more environmentally friendly way to dispose of her poop, but we live in a city and the only patch of dirt we own is in a pot containing a dying plant. That said, I'm currently on the warpath because it is has been raining and a few dog owners in our neighbourhood seem to stop picking up after their dog when it's wet out. I hope they and their dogs all step in the muck and track it through their homes.

Yeah a few years ago I did some reading on what to do with my cat litter scoopin's, and living in the city, the conclusion I came to was "put it in a plastic bag in a landfill" was the least bad. :(

Every time I’ve stood patiently watching my dog toothpaste-out his morning dump, I’ve worried more and more about the best solution.
This visual is unforgivable.

Are British dog poo bags not made of thin PLA plastic, which is made of fermented corn and is completely biodegradable? They are most other places.

Through the miracle of good timing, I had the pleasure of witnessing a bat in a pet store doing exactly that. From its usual inverted perch, the bat spread its wings to hook its claws onto the bars, flip itself upright, squeeze out some brown toothpaste that did NOTHING for my tartar buildup, and turn itself upside down again.

He estimates that 10 bags of poo will power a lamp for two hours, and is planning four sizes of biodigester – possibly even creating a BBQ add-on. That is what he said.

14/10 for that dog!
Yes! I occasionally look after my neighbour's dog. Her name is Izzy, she is a middle-aged Portuguese water dog, and by my estimation she spends 18% of her time actually on the ground; the rest, she is leaping joyously into the air. I would like to be as enthusiastic about anything as she is about everything.
She is 12/10 for sure.

I once saw a Jack Russel doing that straight up and down boinging jump like that at a dog park - but it was because its dad was inattentively reading a newspaper and eating a sandwich.

Pretty much every pack I’ve ever bought (in the UK) claims to be biodegradable on the label. I assumed the article would be all about how true that is, so I was a bit surprised it wasn’t mentioned at all.

I think that dog need a lot more training, although it is quite appealing. It's likely quite young, so perhaps the owner is in the process of training? though she shows no signs of it.
When I lived in town, the dog poop was flung into the daylilies in the side yard, where the soil had no organic matter. After years of this, and composted leaves, the soil was vastly improved. Poop should not be used on food gardens, but flowers or shrubs should be fine, though it doesn't scale for cities. Ikea sells a bag holder making it easy to store shopping bags for use as poop bags. I put one up at the dog park, with a laminated sign asking visitors to feel free to use a recycled bag, and to bring in bags. People would fairly regularly put their bags of poop in it, despite the large trash bin for that purpose. I can't even.

My dog isn't quite so trampoline-y, but gets exactly that excited at the vet's office. Because at the vet's office there are TREATS and SCRITCHES and LOTS OF OTHER DOGS and INTERESTING SMELLS and sometimes they let him visit behind the counter which is the BEST because back there are MORE TREATS and MORE SCRITCHES.

Biodegradable and compostable bags don't degrade in landfills. There literally is no good solution to too much dog poop that doesn't involve either backyard compost piles (if you have a suitable back yard) or municipal composting. Some people I know are putting indoor worm composting bins in their basement, but that is clearly not for everyone.
I also take issue with the author's division of people into "dog owners" and "dog haters." Lots of people love dogs but don't own one.

Municipal composting exists in San Francisco but the guidelines say that "Pet poop, kitty litter" go to the landfill, not the green bin.

My doggie likes the vet. They're nice to her there and she gets treats.
I shit you not she went over and comforted a. Nervous-looking dog in the waiting area once. (yes, we asked the owner if it was OK). She just walked over wagging and then laid down head and all still wagging as if to say "hey, friend, it's cool." She got wags in return which is all she wanted.
She's a good dog.

And yeah, dogs don't jump in place when they want to leave for the same reason you and I don't. That's not how its done. Now if it was at the end of the leash and jumping in different directions that'd be one thing, but we're just seeing a dog having a good old time.

So, curb your dog, but don't throw it out and don't compost it and don't flush it. Sounds like there is no solution at all, save a dedicated pet waste sewage treatment facility.
