German LEGO fan Beryll Roehl has a fascination with a period in LEGO's history when the company sought to improve the quality of their bricks. These rare fifty-year-old-plus bricks come in some fascinating colors and textures. LEGO fan site The Brothers Brick has an interview with the artist here.

Oh man, I love seeing these rare LEGO variants so much. It's like the same feeling as finding a new variation of a candy bar you love, or the dreams I have where I find new sparkle ponies in the store. Hypersalience, a new version of that thing you love!

I knew people collected LEGO, but I had no idea there was this much variation in the plain bricks. I thought the collecting was mostly special sets of the Friends apartment or something. Colored milkies!
