I love these guys so much sometimes. Other times I wonder where their body horror and surrealism give way to straight-up fetish art. Still, I wouldn't trade them for a giant pulsating globe. They clearly were influenced by the early experimental CG videos that I myself saw as an '80s kid.

They used a lot of CGI, and I think it shows.

My favorite one next to "Jacob and the Giraffe" is "Once Upon A Pretzel", just because the ending doubles down on the surreality in an entirely different way that can only be executed once

That q-tip one reminded me of the time I lived in Spain with a gangster who fed toenails to his dog, Cookie.

The Jacob one was really sweet! The chef one not so much. There's so much gay porn aesthetic in these. Not sure what to make of that -- is it to make the straights uncomfortable or is it to laugh at the gays? Both I'm guessing. Tim and Eric go there sometimes too and I've never been entirely comfortable with it but... comfort isn't the point. It's just, is it ultimately coming from a place of affection or meanness? I think the 90's really amped up that ambiguity and this seems like a throwback to that vibe. Anyway, now I'm probably watching more now. Dammit.

Funny, I couldn't sleep, and then I found this post. The music, at least, is very soothing. We'll see how well my nightmares are fueled.

The first thing I thought of was Ultimate Muscle Roller Legend, which is even more NSFW, but shares much of the same manic, uncanny-valley aesthetic.

The pose of the guys in Ultimate Muscle Roller Legend reminded me a lot of Ace and Gary from the Ambiguously Gay Duo cartoons. I'd lean toward "make the straights uncomfortable", especially as a lot of these feature pretty homely guys. As disturbing and, yes, uncomfortable as these can be, I'd prefer these to the very male-gazey aspect of some of the shorts in Netflix's recent Love, Death & Robots (obviously not the jscalzi ones, of course).
