Stacey Abrams is a HUGE Doctor Who fan (although she loves Star Trek too). David Tennant, the tenth Doctor, interviews Stacey Abrams on the latest episode of David Tennant Does a Podcast.

I listened to this a couple of days ago and it was great. If you have not gotten to hear her talk in a relaxed and extended format, do yourself a favor. She’s got it going ON.

Thank you for this! I now know that David Tennant does a podcast, AND that I can listen to his glorious, glorious voice interact with the amazing Stacey Abrams!

None of the links to "podcast providers" worked for me. I expect their javascript players don't like my browser/os.

Anyway, I found this in a rss feed, that works directly: https://dcs.megaphone.fm/SONY8479389603.mp3?key=4bbd0a0abada4bd583e07047100d688f

I am lucky enough to have heard Stacey Abrams interview Ta-Nehisi Coates on his book tour for Between the World and Me (at the Carter Center) and to have heard her give literally the best commencement speech I've ever heard, carefully customized for our student population in a way that showed she genuinely cares about Georgians. She is truly just as great as her hype. Looking forward to listening to this.

I've loved his podcast from the beginning. At first it was mostly people that he had worked with before. He has always come across as a nice guy, but the fact that he could get so many people from his past to talk to him for a podcast that (for along time) didn't have any sponsors really cemented that he probably was as nice as he seems to be. He has a real way of making people feel at ease, which was really apparent in the first podcast of the season with Jim Parsons.

He seriously did some research with the interview with Stacy Abrams. Most Americans wouldn't be able to ask her the insightful questions that he did. I was really impressed. It seemed clear that the reason she agreed to the interview was that she loved Doctor Who, but Tennant really knows how to guide a conversation and it showed.

I was worried at first that when his friends list died out, so would the podcast. He has made it clear that he just has a gift with connecting with anybody. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

In season one he interviews Aziraphael, and the sounds of their voices are *swoon*.

I feared this podcast would be another example of those shows where friends chat about show biz, but this interview in particular showed that he had good prepared questions, and also responded to his guest as the conversation went on

Haven't listened to Abrams yet, starting with his first guest Olivia Wilde, and the conversation is really amazing. Their discussion about what it's like to lose your anonymity when you become famous is a really fascinating thing to hear. Truly happy for this discovery!

I thought he had done an episode I missed but then I realized you meant Olivia Colman?

She was also recently on the WTF podcast. Even having met her and heard her before, I am still surprised at how incredibly accomplished she is. If she was a white man and republican they'd be selling her as the second coming.

I’m not really a super fan of Doctor Who (just watched a few) and I never listen to podcasts but I like David Tennant aaand as a non-American trying to follow US politics I was curious about Stacey Abrams after she had been mentioned as one of the likely candidates for the VP nom before Harris was nominated, so I just had to listen to this and wow, she sounds pretty amazing... for a politician, as Tennant would probably say! (Extra likability points for being aware of overusing the word “Indoctrinate”).

Hope she gets a top position in govt if the dems win this November. (Sigh)

Thanks for posting!

I had a feeling that there would be some tiny bit of bonding over them both having been children of pastors/bishops.

Cabinet level: Labor, HUD, HHS, Commerce, Education, EPA... Any one of them would be a win for the USA.

I enjoy this podcast and the interview with Stacey Abrams was a standout episode. I could listen to her for hours, she's fascinating.

Indeed that's who I meant. I don't know where the Wilde came from.

Tennant is a great conversationalist. Entirely different from, say, Marc Maron. But also able to draw people out. I think part of that is that he's picked people he knows to interview. But he certainly has done his research, and is very natural with his guests.

I loved the quiet, matter-of-fact “I’m probably going to run for POTUS someday” moment.

Not surprised by the message, really admire the delivery.

Well, listening from episode 1, and now into season 2... and the Jim Parsons interview is astonishingly emotional. Abrams is up next, so I'm nearly there.

Also, I hate the commercial inserts in Season 2. There are none in Season 1 and it feels like an intrusion to suddenly have those.

... and I'll be honest. I thought Abrams was going to be chosen for VP. Harris is a fine choice, but I really thought Abrams would be the pick.

I feel that it should be announced in case anyone missed it - the next guest on the podcast is apparently George Takei.

Wow, Abrams' comments about how her whole set of siblings would come together on Saturday nights to watch Doctor Who on Saturday nights was actually really beautiful.

This entire podcast series is beautiful. Every interview is more interesting than I expected it to be, and Tennant turns out to be quite the talented interviewer in a way that I wasn't expecting.

I will keep listening. Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention, and also for Abrams and her episode. She's someone I keep my eye on because she's great.

Well, something to look forward to - there's a ball trimmer ad during the George Takei episode that is inexplicably charming when delivered in Tennant's accent. I

Yes, the ball trimmer ad was... entirely unexpected and somehow charming.

Tennant has a really good way of asking questions that go that one step deeper than you think they're going to go. He's a great interviewer. I really look forward to upcoming episodes.

And also, that Jim Parsons episode... wow. Like, I have Serious Issues with Big Bang Theory but I do admire Parsons as a person and as an actor, and I wasn't expecting the emotional nakedness during that conversation.

Thanks, this was lovely. I already liked Abrams, but her list of what she wanted to do when she was younger really got to me. I also do not get to go to space (though I am a physicist).

She’s got a real talent for speaking clearly and fervently about complicated topics. It’s rare in people in general, and sadly still rare in politicians. Georgia, do you know what you lost by letting Kemp stack the voting system?

JUDI DENCH: I want to now talk to you

DAVID TENNANT: We will do that when we stop

*omg where can I possibly listen to THAT??!?!*
