A Game For People Who Are Nerds About People

Crusader Kings 3, a historical grand strategy game (Win/Mac/Linux), has been widely praised since its recent launch: “[it] made me understand the eldritch madness of grand strategy games” (Gayming), “a world of complexity that feels powerfully alive,” (Vice), “a rare flower – a game that I might actually recommend as useful for trying to understand a specific place (Western Europe) in a specific time (the Middle Ages).” (Bret Devereaux).

Another game available through XBox Games Pass for PC.
(I've tried grand strategy before, and bounced off pretty quickly. CK3 looks like it might have a gentler learner curve, but there's already so much in the backlog...)

It's wonderful fun even if I'm just plotting to murder my usurper neighbor like an old medieval serial killer, constantly thwarted and watching as my relatives die off slowly around me and my wife, bless her, continues to give me daughters, whom my heir will no doubt have to marry off someday but I genuinely can't be bothered. :)

I can definitely say that it has a gentler learning curve than other grand strategy games. I bounced off EU4 so fast I was able to get a steam refund for it, but this one I've been able to play a fair bit and have a good time.
It's still not an *easy* learning curve, but it's not utterly brutal.

Dammit, sorry for the dupe! Happy for this to be deleted if necessary. Don’t know how I missed it.
