I'm thinking that a 'USA' or similar tag, to supply a context for the mentions of 'here', might be useful on this post.

> We know it’s a coup if the government:
> Stops counting votes;
> Declares someone a winner who didn’t get the most votes; or
> Allows someone to stay in power who didn’t win the election.
Pretty sure we didn't amend the constitution lately; or even pass NPVIC.

The Trail of Tears, literal warfare carried out on labor organizations, mass deportation of Mexican-American citizens during the depression, Patton and MacArthur and the Army crushing the bonus marchers, Japanese Internment, centuries of de facto legalized murder of African American citizens.
I don’t think of any of those things as a “coup”. I’m not debating that those are injustices or atrocities that have happened and will continue to happen (you might as well lump in child separation at the border), but they are not the voiding of the country’s government. A coup is a categorically different thing.

It just hasn't happened to middle class and above white people until now.
