Well it had to happen eventually didn't it? Have you ever gone on a hunt for wireless networks in your neck of the woods? Find anything you shouldn't have? And have you ever actually seen a WarChalk yet?

I think the lack of WarChalk activity is summed up in an earlier BBC report.

Hmmm, maybe crop circles are the alien's version of warchalking.

I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords.

I dunno. As someone who is now setting up a wireless node that I plan to allow public access to, I find the celebration of warchalking a bit unsettling. Most people being warchalked are unaware that their wireless network has been singled out for public use. I think there has to at least be some sort of consent before exposing an unprotected network to the public.

The very day that I read of warchalking, I stumbled across one a half of a block away from my apartment. Of course, it was erased the a day later.

i saw this in my local paper. It's the broadband version of mp3 priracy and I love it. There are alot of nodes in my nieghborhood that are intended for public use. What happens when the Big Businesses realize they're yet again losing ground to the geeks? Will they do something funny like push for deregulation of some kinds of frequencies and stricter regulations of others? I feel that very soon the telecom industry is going to come down very hard on people who leave their nodes open.

haha Hey buddy, your node's open.

I actually have seen a warchalking mark. A couple of weeks ago, I was in downtown Chicago on Ohio street a few blocks west of Michigan Ave. I noticed an open node symbol on a building corner, sort of small and trying to look unobtrusive.
