Why, it's the Yellow Rose of Texas of course.

Citizen Scientists! Help Amarillo, Texas identify this oddly-clothed resident frightening cryptocreature... before it starts to realize that there are plenty of cattle around the area to suck the blood out of and it doesn't need their zoo. (Or, that the 7-11 is actually open all night).

Is it a person with a strange hat who likes to walk at night? A chupacabra? Do you have any ideas of what this UAO- Unidentified Amarillo Object could be?

You're the zoo, what does the fox say?

Someone in the gizmodo thread said that some furry fursuits were stolen in Amarillo recently (apparently 5 months ago) pictures of the fursuits . They kind of look similar and this seems like something a drunken criminal would do with a fursuit for fun.

I dunno if it's because I've spent too much time on the internet but my first thought when I saw the pics was "that's gotta be a furry, right?", even before I heard about the stolen fursuits.

I go out walkin' after midnight
Out in the moonlight
Just like we used to do
I'm always walkin'
After midnight
Swingin' by the zoo...

Reminds me of a surveillance picture from somewhere in South America, I think, that showed a terrifying little alien or goblin creature walking the street. Upon expert examination, it turned out to be a cat’s butt

Chupacabra.

Disappointed MeFi didn't figure this out immediately.

Dissappointed it took days to hit the Blue.

There was also the time where a dangerous beast turned out to be a croissant.

Why does this make me so happy?

But I also can't help thinking that an autonomous and, apparently, mobile cat butt seems legitimately horrifying. Especially if it was nocturnal.

I used to make jokes about furries but essentially they're people having fun and my attempts to be funny came from a place of jealousy. This has that smell: it's not an alien or an escapee from the zoo, it's a mean joke about a subculture they're not part of.

We have a cat who thinks everyone needs to see her butt all the time. I suppose that’s not quite where you’re at because the cat butt in my case is connected to the rest of the cat, so less body-horror, but waking up to “is that litter stuck to your rear?” stuck in my face at 3am is not my favorite thing about having cats. (Still love our cats but sheesh..)
