MEFI FUNDRAISER AUCTION ENDING SHORTLY

As a reminder, the Metafilter Fundraiser Auction 2022 is nearing its end.
I am posting here with about 3 hours to go before the auction ends, rather than try to post a Meta which would be held up in the queue.
It's looking like quite a smashing success, and there is a lot of interest in the next one already, which is great! However, with still some work to go to finish up this one, and the holidays quickly approaching, the next one will probably be early next year.
I'm hoping for an end-of-auction Meta update in the next week or two, which will include information about creating a regular yearly or twice yearly event. And we'll be happy to get lots of feedback about this first one and ideas for the next one there.

Wow! I just checked in on the item I donated, and it looks like it will go for above what I would’ve charged, so yay!
I also checked on an item I was outbid on a couple days ago, and it’s now at double my limit, so yay again.

Thank you to yuwtze and box for shooting past my “cost of materials” and “I’d be gratified if …” goals and beating my “that’d be awesome”’goal.
But way more importantly thank you for supporting here. ❤️

This was awesome! I tallied the money early in the auction and it was.... impressive. I won an auction! Never in all my years did I expect that. So glad to see so much money rolling into Metafilter. Also incredibly glad that there is a financial plan in place which should, hopefully, keep us out of this spot again.

Thank you to everyone who has taken part in the auction! Glinn, JHarris and I set it up in a huge hurry, and first we were worried no one would contribute any items, then we were concerned that there would be no bids. I'm delighted that we were wrong on both counts.
Right now we're going through the lists of bidders sending out emails to give payment information, compiling proofs of payment and connecting buyers with the people who contributed the items. It's a slow and manual process, so I hope all parties will bear with us. But please drop us a line at metafilterauctions@gmail.com if you're wondering if your bid or item has fallen through the cracks.
Thank you again everyone. As Glinn has said above, we plan for another Metafilter Fundraising Auction early next year, so if you had something you wanted to contribute, please hold on to it - we'll be back, and hopefully with a slightly smoother operation.

Thanks for taking on the work, tavegyl. I’ve emailed the person with the winni bid on my item, but haven’t gotten a shipping address yet. Then again, some mail hosts believe I’m a spammer, so I may end up needing some help.

On its way. Will be working on something for the next auction once I get a clear spot on my bench (a couple holiday presents are at the front of the queue).
