Real time revisionism

Something amiss with the "Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies" web page today. Something amiss with the "Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies" web page at the moment. "Sorry, We Couldn't Find That Page": reasons for this could include a hurried effort to get rid of evidence that this organization of fascist apologists ever existed.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Broken link -- loup

Looks ok to me, your URL is busted (your agenda, maybe, too)

It looks like you just copied a broken link, or one where the middle was cut off.

Your link: https://ualberta.ca/canadian-institute-of.../about/about.htm

Correct link: https://www.ualberta.ca/canadian-institute-of-ukrainian-studies/about/index.html

In any case, not sure what the point of this post is. Was this supposed to be a comment in another post?

Here is the page from January of this year. I don't see any evidence of fascist apologetics.

I would like the post deleted. I took the 404 I found as one more of the many deletions from the U of A website regarding Ukrainian history in and around Galicia, and I fucked this up completely.
Regrets.

The enactment of my agenda needs a good long rest, but it is in very good shape otherwise.
I was wrong. Flagged.

The Ukrainian experience during World War Two was pretty terrible. First the Russians murdered the country with a famine and purges of Stalin under the Holomodor to try to obliterate their culture while at the same time the Russians were allies of Hitler. Then they suffered under Nazi invasion and occupation. Blaming the victims of twin tragedies for trying to survive by picking between two terrible options, is a low down, dirty thing to do.

Thank you. I have put myself into a very speedy state this week and need to take some time away from the internet.

I am glad we can have this little chat pending deletion, and am all ears now.

"Maybe you shouldn't makes posts about Ukraine."

Not for a good long while, esp. at Metafilter.

Apologies to the community here, I have some more undoing to do elsewhere.

My efforts were aimed at the UofA, at which the very excellent scholar John-Paul Himka teaches, but also at which an effort is being made to scrub records of less excellent undertakings.

One of those revisionists, Dr. Luciuk, is still part of the organization, but I fucked up this effort to make that case.

Um... I refer you to yourself about 7 minutes ago?

Good advice, hippybear: would you be willing to look at a draft of such a post? Even the opportunity to discuss this would be good for me.

More than fair, thank you.

as someone who participated in this thread and the subsequent MeTa, I am open to this discussion.

Comments from other MeFites put me on to Himka's work

I live in a part of N. America where settlers from Ukraine are a prominent part of many communities. There is very little scrutiny of some aspects of history, in my experience. I think it's a mistake to fail to be critical of our histories. It's a shame this discussion started off so poorly but here we are, the thread exists (for now), so what are we here to do?
