Canadian metal quartet, Spiritbox, released The Fear of Fear today—a mix of metalcore, progressive metal, alternative metal, and electronic music—to very positive reviews from KillYourStereo, Boolin Tunes, Crypticrock, and Distorted Sound Magazine.

Singles: The Void (video), a catchy and crushing anthem that addresses the feeling of emptiness; Cellar Door (video), a heavy and haunting track that explores the concept of fear; softer Ultra Violet(video), and Angel Eyes(video premieres this afternoon), a brutal and industrial song.

Bonus: this is my favorite video of Courtney LaPlante showing off her vocal skills: Circle With Me live one take.

I kind of wish Courtney had never joined iwrestledabearonce; I don't think she was ever a good fit for the band and the change in their sound to a darker more melodic metalcore wasn't really welcome IMO.

However, I really like Spiritbox, and I guess they would never have formed if IWABO hadn't died a slow and awkward death as Courtney and Mike figured out their sound and the kind of band they wanted to be.
