No one should complain that much. Look at how long it's taken Robert Caro to finish his new book Master of the Senate! He's been writing about Lyndon Johnson for more than 25 years!

Hey, some of us are still holding our breath waiting for Gunther Schuller to come out with a follow-up to The Swing Era. It's been a dozen years -- don't leave us stranded in 1945, Gunther!

Fannie Flagg (Fried Green Tomatoes) often goes 5 to 8 years between novels. And look at Donna Tartt. The Secret History came out in 1992 so that will make it 10 years. Boy I can't wait for her new novel, it is supposed to be out this fall.
