The third link - kept - was uploaded to Soundcloud five years ago, so I don't think it can be included.

I think their and own are the most successful interpretations of the idea.

The first time I read this I recognized the name Drew Daniels but couldn’t place it and got my wires crossed and thought it was drewtoothpaste so I was marveling at how many people with the ability to actually execute on that idea showed up. This time I realized “ohhh it’s one of the guys from [weird experimental musical duo] Matmos” and it all made a lot more sense. They’re they kind of people who have an album made entirely of sounds of a washing machine in their basement, or who spend 96 hours hanging out in a gallery with a bunch of weird instruments as an exhibit. And don’t get me started on The Rat Relocation Program, one of the least pleasant-to-listen-to albums* I’ve ever bought!

* okay more of an EP

The third link - kept - depeche mode
Milkdrop 2/have: unconventional...ambient, most reminiscent of girl of my dream

that depeche mode track is most definitely not in 5/4.

not hearing the link between the second track and "girl of my dream"

Links 1 and 4 remind me very strongly of when I was in college and people would ask me to imitate jungle music and I would go "BMMTSSBRRRRRRTKTKTKTKTKTKBSHHSBHHBUMBUMBUMMMMBIDBIDBIDBIDBIDI" and they would laugh and laugh because it was true

(this was 1994-1995 and every club night in Pittsburgh was 95% jungle, you had to be there)

The one by PEPSI in the thread sounds like an Aphex Twin track played at 2X speed.

The beat of the one by Ron Peehole reminds me of my wife's breastpump. that thing had a really cool beat. The breast pump didn't randomly connect to the internet over the phone line in 1995 though, like the track does.

I can't see the Twitter links but I love the idea of a new (sub) genre arriving in a dream!

When I was in school I sometimes solved math problems in dreams, and also puzzles in video games. So far that's the most useful stuff but I keep hoping one day I'll luck out or do better.

I found this article about Hit Em but all the links are also to twitters. Anyone want to share some links to SoundCloud or wherever the actual music is hosted?

I remember hearing about some Beatles song that was in 7/8 (or 7/7 ?) that was about 7 sisters who…. Married 7 brothers or something ? Yet never able to find it or maybe I too dreamed it up.

Anyways. Thanks! I love odd timing.

I can say with absolute unshakeable confidence that the words "The beat of the one by Ron Peehole reminds me of my wife's breastpump" have never been put together in that order before in the entire history of the English language.

As if there's ever been a "new" genre of music where some hipster hasn't come along and said "so-and-so was doing that five years ago."

My best dream music was after listening to basically all of David Bowie, having a dream featuring him covering Melissa Etheridge's "I'm the Only One".

I love dream ideas so much. The all-time classic is probably King's Hand, but I just recently learned about the TV show Bitch House.
