Emperor penguin waddles up to surfer at WA beach in most northern recorded sighting of species. A young emperor penguin has captured the attention of locals and researchers by arriving at an unexpected location in Western Australia, a long way from its Antarctic home.
I hope the penguin is OK!

Probably swam along a stream of cold, fresh meltwater near the surface of the ocean — a stream which wouldn’t have existed prior to global warming.

I'm still hung up on that the man who first spotted this penguin has the last name of Fowler. Yes, a penguin isn't a fowl but still, come on.

Good grief. I just about pitched an infarction when I read this, as I thought that WA meant the State of Washington, a hard stone's throw from where I am in B.C., or America's toque.
As a sailor, water skier, Windsurfer, and snow-skier, I grasp the fact that pretty much all that stuff is over if freaking penguins are now padidilling around at these latitudes.
A tiny sigh of relief upon seeing that it was posted by the cassowary thrasher.
