The Syrian government has falled

It appears the 50 year long Assad regime has fallen. Against a rebellion that I hadn't even heard was happening. Given how bad Assad has been, this seems like a good thing.

A quote from the Lawyers, Guns, & Money blog from a few weeks ago when Aleppo fell to the rebels:

I would caution everyone, however, that while the Syrian government is Really Fucking Bad, the Syrian rebels are also Really Fucking Bad, and as consequence what we’re watching here is a contest between people who are Really Fucking Bad. Take care when choosing a side.

This all came about due to Ukraine. No, not the war itself.

There are two ways to get Gas to Europe. NS2 via Germany from Russia, and via Syria. Once NS2 was blown up, Assad was on a timer.

His usefulness was at an end and Russia and Iran are too weak to do anything about it. He has failed them for the last time.

Things may well get bad for Syria and the people there, but today a lot of people have got out of up to 50 years prison today.

Good Riddance to Assad. May he be found and justice prevail.

OK, they seem terrible as well.

Just doing some newsfilter so others can provide more info,
Assad was also bad.

And it seems rare-ish that an authoritarian gets what's coming. Carry on
