On the Strasmin, the Oistrem, and Far-Off Botaram

After a decade of inactivity, the epic strange-setting fantasy comic A Stray to Botaram has resumed updating; the author has vowed to see the journey to the end. This was preceded by a project to remaster old pages and turn text posts into pages, so whether this is new or old to you, I suggest starting from the beginning, at what only initially looks like a newspaper comic strip from an alternate reality, here.

It's surprisingly cool! When I think of all the old webcomics that have come and gone I get really sad. Some really big names have become nearly forgotten. oneswellfoop would have been able to remind us of lots of them, I'm sure.

I'm digging it!

I like the bit in the FAQ about how he set design limitations that should make it "easy" (or at least easier) to produce, while still having room for (and requiring) a decent degree of artistry. The tangram approach is a really clever solution that works well. I'm just a few strips in but I think I'll make it part of my daily reads since I'm low on comics. Thanks for sharing!

Comics are an art form that has considerable breadth, but I’ve never seen one I could say this is derivative of. Kind of a slow start but it has drawn me in. A worthy post that should add to your name, BiggerJ.

If you enjoy this comic, I think you might also like Tales of the Beanworld.
