Germaine Greer's "The Beautiful Boy"

"How you view Greer’s book depends on your attitude towards the power of looking. Is objectification always demeaning? What happens to society as a result of girls looking at boys? Are we morally bound, as feminists, to denounce any kind of overt looking or superficial admiration on the grounds that to subject another person to such scrutiny is just an echo of traditionally ‘male’ behaviour (behaving ‘badly’ in the name of liberation)?"
In The Most Beautiful Boy in the World, a heart-wrenching documentary, co-directors Kristina Lindström and Kristian Petri puncture the uneasy vein of child star building, explaining how often the practice ensnares the vulnerable. They do so by telling the story of once Swedish teen idol Andrésen, who at the age of fifteen was cast as Tadzio in Italian director Luchino Visconti’s adaptation of Thomas Mann’s novel Death in Venice. The part would bring the Swedish actor fame, adulation, and adoring fans only for the ensuing noise of stardom to rupture his life, permanently. - *

What on earth is this pedophilia apologetic doing here?

Which is to say that I don't trust anything Greer has to say on "traditionally ‘male’ behaviour" (or female behaviour, or really much of anything to do with gender)

Greer was interviewed on Louis Theroux podcast last year. An interesting interview like you'd expect from Theroux, but, yeah, it's plain that Greer is well past her sell-by date.

Oh dear.

No point letting this continue. I’m contacting the mods to request this be deleted. I’ll try a separate post on the documentary later.

Really? Seems like pedophilia is pedophilia.
