“And to that, I scream out loud, 'I'm coming'”

An early favourite for this year's Eurovision Song Contest is the entry from Finland: Ich komme, by Erika Vikman. Wikipedia: The lyrics reflect "the joyous message of pleasure, ecstasy and a state of trance" and sexual pleasure and reaching the climax, reflected in its structure, which corresponds to the way a sexual climax is reached. Eurovision World: Erika herself says about her song for Eurovision: “In this song you take control. Everything related to your sexuality is in your own hands. Pleasure should not be taboo.” Lyrics.
I’ll always love Sheena Easton for innocently insisting that “sugar walls” was just a metaphor for intimacy.

I just worry it might be a bit subtle for Eurovision

Finland knows better than any other country that there are no rules.

Thanks for posting this thread! Eurovision can be a hoot, and I didn’t realize it was that time again.

I swear I hear a bit of teutonic Funkytown in this.

Veronica Maggio did more understated "Jag kommer" in 2011. Though she denies there was any sexual intent behind the phrasing.

You’re erroneously assuming the “olds” don’t know that.

Yeah, we all know any lyrics mentioning "your love" or "kissing," "holding," and related phrases is all about sex. Figured it out in junior high, which is what they called "middle school" back in the late 60s.

I think the Eurovision peak for this kind of thing still goes to the 2022 Latvian entry by Citi Zēni, 'Eat Your Salad' (lyrics video, not full performance), with its memorable opening line that was sadly censored for the show.

We'll see if they let this year's entry from Malta with its chorus proclaiming that she's serving "kant" go through uncensored. It's just the Maltese word for singing, after all.

Eurovision have apparently said that the lyric ""Serving kant... Do-re-mi-fa-s-s-serving kant" is fine, so it's in.
But yes, the Malta entry is worth an FPP to itself, and so it has one.

Hello from Finland. Erika Vikman is a former 2016 Tango Queen (this used to be a HUGE thing in Finland in the late 80's and 90–00's, the Tangomarkkinat ["Tango Fair"] is the oldest Tango festival in the world), so she has a LOT of experience on stages everywhere around Finland, as a real old-school touring singer, which I don't know maybe isn't a case for a lot of the Eurovision acts nowadays?
