Cattle producer wakes to find olive python eating her bra and shirt

An Northern Territory (Australia) cattle producer had the horribly amazing experience of witnessing a python eating her laundry. The serpent eventually regurgitated her clothes, which she said were quite slimy and in need of a thorough wash. A reptile expert says pythons can be attracted to items that smell of food, such as those worn by people who work with animals, but believes the mass loss of bras is unlikely.

The python was a neighbor and simply stopped by to borrow a cup ☺

Yes, of course she washed them, bras can be damn expensive.

I would have burned them with fire. No.

Understandable sentiment, but Mataranka doesn't exactly look on Amazon's same-day delivery schedule

"Everyone's underwear should be safe" - my fave quote from a very quotable article.

Previously: Two tennis balls surgically removed from scrub python

I believe that article speculated that their dog had the tennis balls in its mouth, making the tennis balls smell like dog food so their python swallowed them. The python was fine after the surgery.

I love how casual many Australians seem to be about local fauna entering their home and doing stuff--my understanding is there are an amazing number of deadly critters of unusual size (giant SPIDERS) that would terrify me.

As a counter-point, I give you the story of my co-worker's adult daughter who had a big fear of rats (can't blame her, and this is not to disrespect her). She was moving into a new rental house and unpacking things in the garage when she heard what she suspected to be a rat in the garage wall. She immediately had everything packed and back out in the truck. She called her mom to tell her that she, her husband and son would be moving in with her for a short time, put her stuff in storage, broke her lease, and was out of the house the same day she moved in. I was impressed by her efficiency and her husband's unquestioning support.
