The Humble Penny? A site to help visualize large numbers with the common US coin. And to think I've been cursing them for so long. If I'd saved 10 million of the little buggars I'd have $100k.
I missed the penny post the first time around. This is strange and excellent. Thanks, Yoga.

Kokogiak rules.
You must be this tall to ride Kokogiak.
Keep arms and legs inside Kokogiak at all times.
Do not stand up until Kokogiak has come to a complete stop.

First time was great, second is just fine too. BTW, anyone know of a similar site for dollar bills? Always wondered how large a stack $1.0M would be...

Take this.
Halve it.
That's how many different people read the front page of MetaFilter each month.

The Introduction to Understanding USA (dicussed in a previous thread) provides another interesting metaphor for understanding large numbers.

half of this might be a more accurate representation. "Over 750,000 tons of grass-munching, milk-giving
animals on 4,008,960 hooves."

Frankly, I am concerned for the safety of some of those cows.

I can assure you, no cows were harmed in the making of the MegaPenny Project. Boxed and stacked, yes, but released into the wild after the photo shoot - none the worse for wear.

This is in no way a condemnation yoga, but if you click the "since day one" option on the search page, you'll find the original thread. For some people, this is too slow, and so it's nice to know you can also get the same result by typing 'megapenny' into the google search box beneath. Just some info for your next thread posting. I've also fallen foul of the default search options in my time ...
