Star Wars Kid

Step one: record an embarrassing video of yourself (WMV link). Step two: Let the video fall into the hands of the internet masses, and become the hero you've dreamed of(also WMV).
Ohh... that poor, poor chubby dork.

What the heck is Jakob Nielsen doing goofing around with a lightsaber? Or is he conducting a useability study of it, perhaps?

That kid is SO me-20-years-ago. Sometimes I wish we'd had video cameras and the internet when I was growing up. Sometimes I'm really, really glad we didn't.

You're all going to feel terrible for laughing at him if he ends up (a) suicidal (b) going postal (c) the new Billy Elliot.

hey, if they can cast as a jedi Christopher Lee, who must be close to 100 years old by now, or at least he looks like he is...
you can too!

That remix is the BOMB. I thought the original was stupid-poor kid-but the remix made me almost pee my pants. Thanks for the laugh.

I'm wondering if he didn't make the original video with the intention of creating the remix...

I nominate Andrew Antone to score this kid's graceful, liquid lightsaber fighting style.
And Mo Cheeks to edit it all.

I haven't been able to download the linked videos, but if the first is the original, and the second has star wars music and lightsaber, there is at least one more that uses slow motion video and opera music to make him appear quite the badass. (sorry no link, anyone know where it can be found?)

Sometimes I wish the internet was around when I was a teenager, what with the unlimited free porn, webcam girls, and chatrooms.
Then I see stuff like this and I'm thankful the stupidity of my youth will not be cached on Google forever.

What the hell is he throwing around? It looks like the thing you use to fish out floating golf balls.
Now all we have to do is get him together with the anthem girl and we'd have some sort of Master Nimrod Race.

Another [good] vote. My entire office was in tears watching this. I happen to prefer the original to the remix, though both are good. The original, I think, is unequaled in its character development, with pacing bordering on brilliant as it descends from the inane, to the embarrassing, to the hysterical. It all comes together so beautifully -- the rigid hand when at rest, the mouthed sounds, the intent look directly into the camera, the inability to lift his leg above knee height, the uncontrolled flying off camera, the way the stick sometimes looks like it's attacking *him* -- or perhaps my favorite: The slow, casual saunter onto the stage, back facing the camera, before spinning around to unleash the fury. Bravo!

I keep thinking this kid should sign up for the tai-chi/kung fu classes we have here. After a few years he'll still look like a chubby dork but he'll know how to really do that. He could be the next Sammo Hung!
On the other hand, there's the possibility of "My name is Toby Johnson. You humiliated me on the internet. Prepare to die." Anyone else get the impression he had someone (or ones) specific in mind?

Well, hey. At least the fat kid's getting some exercise. He's taking a movie that he really loves and he's having fun with it. No harm in that. I mean come on people. It could be a lot worse. "We are a legitimate spiritual following, using the word Jedi as an intermediary due to the closeness between the philosophies of these fictional characters to our own." *shudder* And people claimed Bob was a joke? EIYIYIYIY!
