Two grown men

You big babies. Chirac gives Blair the perfect birthday gift.
Jesus, is dignity passe this century or something?
Assuming that international diplomacy continues to develop along this glorious path, George Bush will be bog-washing Saddam Hussein if they manage to find him.
I'd rather hoped that the elected representatives of a country would be able to put aside their tedious, petty personal grudges, and assume some gravitas, but I guess not.

Chirac an ass? How about "I won't visit your frog country because you opposed my war and because I'm afraid The Sun will make fricassée of me if I do"?

I think we can all agree they're both being childish and christ are these people really leading some of the most important nations on the planet?

Chirac clearly has a finer sense of irony and the absurd, and IMHO a much better sense of humor. 8)

My opinion of the french has just rocketed.
Britain and America have turned this into an absurd situation, and I think Chirac has done a first class job of displaying a sense of humour our guys seem to have lost a long while ago. It does bring up an interesting question though - if Blair has to pay the difference between £140 and £900, then where does the money go to? Does it take the form of a fine that goes into the HoP coffers or does Chirac actually only end up paying £140 for the wine?
If it's the latter does anyone fancy helping me buy Mr Blair a Renault Espace to help him transport his kids? Paint it red white and blue and signwrite it as being a present from the blind children in Kurdistan as thanks for liberating them and he couldn't possibly refuse it. I'm sure we can round up £140 quid...

Bog-washing? Is that the same as a swirly?

At least it's better than the coffee mug Howard gave Blair.
last para: " Mr Howard will give Mr Blair a coffee mug, which he bought in Mr Bush's home town of Crawford, featuring the three men as members of the coalition of the willing in the war in Iraq."
Gag.

I wouldn't pay for the '89 either. It is much inferior to the '82.

Yes! In fact, submitted for the next edition of the Newspeak dictionary, the following words no longer have any meaning and are therefore stricken:
Yes! In fact, submitted for the next edition of the Newspeak dictionary, the following words no longer have any meaning and are therefore stricken:
- dignity
- honor
- integrity
- irony
- dissent w/government = treason
- nationalism = patriotism, though the latter is preferred for purposes of common usage
- slanted (as in journalism) = fair and/or balanced
I thought it was rather a classy snub, especially when you consider all the other things he could have sent.
