The New Sculpture in Fardus Square: "The last thing artists think about is politics. Politicians get paid to talk, that's the opposite of what artists do."
I don't agree with the statement, but if you ask me, there's a lot of times I wish it was true.

Lovably unwieldly, that big ugly thing, for some reason it reminds of the sculpture of the crazy artist in "My Life as a Dog" ...

Publicity about the sculpture brought offers of support from around the world but Hamad has declined them: "If I take money from others, I'll have to create what they want. I want to create something that is purely my image, so we don't accept any money."It will be interesting to see if the new Iraqi government can maintain the same independence.
