I still haven't gotten my PIN number in the mail from ICANN. Has this happened to anyone else? How am I supposed to put The Head Lemur into office?

Don't rush to try to verify your membership with the PIN number you (eventually) receive. I got my PIN, and have tried to verify the membership on their website over twenty times with no success. Last week, I kept getting server timeouts; this week, I'm getting a purple page with the large-text message "We are sorry. The database is currently overloaded. Please try again when the system is less busy."

This is the group that wants to run the database of all domain names in the world? And they are having problems with keeping their membership database accessible? That's pathetic.

Indeed. I was happy that they were that popular, but I'm rethinking that opinion, slightly...

No PIN here either.

To be honest I was surprised to receive the confirmation e-mail, after half an hours of failing to get the sign-up page to submit. It seems strange that they're *constantly* overloaded no matter the time of day.

What are they running their database on? It behaves like their RDBMS is a balding man called Simon who has to jot down transactions with an HB pencil.

I've finally got mine, but it took a long time -- many months. Just hang in there -- ICANN's membership department consists of an octagenarian and his faithful Irish Setter, and they're working as fast as they can.

I tried to re-apply yesterday, and got the "System Overloaded" message.

Got mine, but sat on the mail for various reasons until today, and registered just fine. I did get a message about system load, though.
