Blog Change Bot is an AOL Instant Messenger-based bot that will send you an IM whenever your favorite blogs are updated. (via Blogroots; more inside)
You do know that Blogroots is on the sidebar in MeTa, right?

The Flaming Lips' The Soft Bulletin is a really good album. I just needed to say that.

This seemed to me to be an interesting enough thing to warrant a post over here, with the much wider audience. If not (or if bringing things here from Blogroots is considered overkill), I'll happily whistle while the thread is dumped into the Not Ready for Primetime pile.

I use this thing. It's great-- I get an IM within minutes whenever someone on my list updates their blog. It takes blogstalking to a whole new level.

If this thing could get hooked up to all the updates listed @ blo.gs or weblogs.com and scrape any with RSS for keywords I'm interested in, it would make a more usable agent. Otherwise it's useful for things one already knows about. Very elegant use of existing technologies though. I wrote some more thoughts here.
