Network Solutions has denied Amazon.com's request for the renewal of their domain. Read the letter to Jeff Bezos here.

... In other news today, San Francisco non-profit organization serving the lesbian community has offered to buy controlling interest in Amazon.com. The chair of the organization, amazon.org, was quoted as saying "Dot org domains are for losers."

Had me going until I read this:

Bezos has been telling a variant of this himself for at least two months or so... His goes that the name of the company should be amazon.org, since clearly they're non-profit...
