Where oh where are the Depeche Modes of yesteryear?

Wow - i'd say this thing sounds more than decent... just about right on according to the samples on this page. Unfortunately it's not the only one that has the sound this close... Rebirth had it awfully close years ago, and another emulator, the Muon Tau bassline does just as good a job as this one. A fun little box, nonetheless. It's a shame it's so overused though.

I hear this a lot, but the 303 can make different tones, and, obviously, there's a practically limitless number of melodies. I'd agree it's been overused in a similar way over and over, but I think put to creative use its a great tool. No one says guitars or violins are overused.

you can also get Muon's latest 303 effort in this month's Computer Music magazine.

Have they reproduced that almost-impossible-to-use interface as well?
And people say modern music requires no musicianship or skill.
I think one of the reasons that people think it is overused is the difficulty in using the interface. Getting a sound out of a 303 is the goal, any sound. I was happy when I apparently managed to get a little tune together after using one for two hours. Of course, I was mistaken as I was playing a saved melody.

It looks like edlundart beat me to it by about 10 hours.
Now if I could only get my *actual* 303 to work...
