This article claims that Musharraf made a deal with the US to not go after bin Laden some time ago. If true, it sounds like the deal may not last much longer (and it should never have been made in the first place.)
Meanwhile, Pakistan's nuclear program is an escalating issue.

It's probably worth bearing in mind that bin Laden hasn't been caught before now because he wasn't really wanted before now - in fact, he's not really wanted until August or early September of this year. Just in time for the speech you know Rove, et. al, want Bush to give on September 11th, leading to the American Presidential election in November, in which Bush may proclaim, "We got 'im!"

Jollywanker: The way to disarm that possible scenario, IMO, is to propose it as a possible scenario on a fairly regular basis in many different forums. If it does happen, it gives us lots of ammunition to scream "See! We told you! They're using lives of American soldiers for political gain." If it does not happen, of course, it makes us a bunch of paranoid lefties in the minds of many people who already think we're paranoid lefties. Either way, it does no harm...

thomcatspike: might i suggest you curl up and die?
Not sure what happened to my second comment:
Pakistani policies do not allow American troops to operate inside the country.
Where does the United States go from here? death from old age.
keswick, what you read was a portion of my second comment re-corrected as I accidently italicized, death from old age, meaning Osama will not be captuered and he will die of natural causes, maybe old age. Now what was your response about?

Meanwhile, some hope to win this game of "Where's Waldo" through data mining, by way of the DARPA funded Metacarta program :
"Our system can be used to find them across the globe.....Perhaps it could be used to find Osama Bin Laden by checking out various aspects of Afghanistan and other parts of the world where we think he might be and see if there is a lot of data that supports a potential presence"
