It'll be alot easier to maintain the site once he's dead though.

I find the interface clunky and it doesn't validate. An outrage!

interesting story about how some guy apparently set up his computer to check for updates to this site every five minutes for several months.

Man what a weird day on Mefi. There has to be something in the air or water. Radio signals maybe? Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzhwp.
Great post.
Seconded.

If there were a way to do the wave for an outstanding post, I would start one for this post.

Reminds me of how I kept ending weblog posts asking "Is Strom Thurmond dead yet???" for a few months.
Not that anyone wants Abe Vigoda to pass away, of course. Godfather, man, Godfather.
(on preview: I'm next to dobbs.)

Amusing enough, I guess, but there are millions of people more deserving of this sort of treatment than Abe Vigoda.

donth: great story! I know at my college, the admins were pretty alert and if somebody had downloaded even a GB of data from the site they would have been jumpy. But a TB?

I wish no ill will on the man, but he is almost as old and certainly as cantankerous as Fish, eh?

I'm counting on Abe to get me right back into the action in my dead pool.
I remember an old episode of Michael Moore's TV Nation which instead of celebrating people that had died within the last year, to celebrate the old celebrities that didn't die in the last year.
Kirk Douglas.

I met Abe once, when I was a young un. Saw him in a restaurant and asked him for his autograph. He graciously provided it. That is all.

Who remembers the episode where they get the hash brownies? Phil Fish eats some brownies and goes out on a call. Time passes. A gentleman is brought in, wrists in handcuffs, tells Barney how he thought he had escaped when he jumped from one building roof to another across an alley but the old guy followed him, jumping over the alley, landing on the foor and cornering him.
Cool post.

Nobody has mentioned the Bauhaus-inspired song that eventually loads with the page.
