Nader debates Gore advisor this week They might not let him debate Gore face to face, but hey, at least this is something. Way to put the issues on the table, Ralph.
Arg. . . I thought I pasted in the link. I'm horrible. The debate is on Wired!
Here's the real link.

I missed it, and my buddy forgot to tape it. . . I heard he was in a skit or something.

yeah, after the second or third skit and before the commercial break
they showed Lorne Michaels chatting with him, and Rob Lowe came off stage and Lorne said "hey rob, look who's here!" and ran off camera
they did their little "what this person's thinking" bit, and one of ralph's was "i think this guy's HIGH! maybe i should tell him about my plan to decriminalize pot - that'll get his vote!"
i wish i had taped it, i would have if i'd know in advance (esp. since i'm in AZ, it was already broadcast on the east coast)

that's my big question about tivo -- can you not tape anything permanently? if you tape a move off hbo, say, can you keep it for ten years? can you transfer a tivo digital recording to regular vhs to give to a friend? [whoa, topic drift ahead...]

You can "Save Until I Delete" which I'm pretty sure will save it forever. At the expense of that much of your disk space. There's a "feature" called "save to VCR" which will give you a countdown to start recording on your VCR, so yeah, you can do that.
Vote TiVo!

I don't know what the head of the F.C.C. will be able to say in response to Nader's points. I mean, for most of the past ten years, all the F.C.C. has been doing has been rubber-stamping one mega-media merger after another while at the same time clamping down on community (i.e. "pirate") radio and, oh yeah, making sure you don't say "fuck" on air. The kind of media industry we have didn't happen by accident and the F.C.C. has its share of responsibility in it.
