Download Fahrenheit 9/11 Here This guy wants you to see the Moore film and is willing to suffer a possible lawsuit in order to get it to you. Free. "I'll see how my bandwidth holds up. Here is the initial release of my posting of Fahrenheit 9/11. It's big. Its 650 megs. So - if you are on a slow connection - don't even bother. Go rent the DVD. But if you have DSL or better - here it is."

Somewhat related, I just saw this on FactCheck.org:

Media Fund Twists the Truth More Than Michael Moore
Radio ad claims most air traffic was grounded when bin Laden's family was allowed to leave. Not true. In fact, the FBI questioned 22 of them and found no links to terrorism.

No lawsuit worries. Moore approves of the download as long as you don't resell it.

"I'll see how my bandwidth holds up?" Has this guy heard of bittorrent? Michael Moore already said publicly that he didn't mind people file-trading the film as long as they don't try to sell it. So what we have here is one computer idiot posting a film the wrong way, months after this was ever news. In other words: a complete non-post.

I downloaded it around the time it first came to theaters because I had a newborn and just paypaled Michael Moore the $9 for what I'd pay at Fandango.

Believe it or not, there's a lot of people who have not used bittorrent, or have not ever got it to work, or find downloading pieces of files on Usenet cumbersome. (Me.) For those people, the wmv and avi files are helpful.

However, from what I can see, this is one of those "filmed in a theater with a camcorder" productions, so the quality is horrible. Now that it's on DVD, why would someone not just go rent it for $3?

I guess it's all the more shame that this fruit didn't rip a nice file from a DVD copy before he did this.

You should try bit torrent, SSF. It's architecture was specifically conceived for people in this guy's situation: have a big file to distribute globally, don't have a lot of bandwidth to do it. Because people downloading the file all simultaneously upload the pieces they've got so far to everyone else, effectively donating their bandwidth, the original file distributor only has to bear a small part of the load. It's a fantastic system that works incredibly well. I appreciate your reply, and I don't mean this as some kind of techno-elitism, but really, you should get on the bandwagon. It's going places that AVIs-on-webservers just can't go.

Has this guy heard of bittorrent?

If you had followed the link, you would've seen that yes, he has, and he recommends using it. But he also provides downloads for those who don't have it.

I'm simultaneously downloading 57 copies just to make sure i get a nice clean one.

The copy on his site is a telesync. That is, it looks like it was filmed in a movie theater, but there is little or no flicker. The quality is very bad. Considering the DVD is out, he could post a DVD rip and get better quality (and probably get away with more compression too, resulting in a smalller file).

Being unemployed and too cheap to spend the money, I'm grateful to Marc for making this available online.

Everyone says Michael Moore doesn't mind if you download; however, does Michael Moore even own Fahrenheit 9/11? I doubt it; it's mostly likely owned by a studio, and they certainly haven't authorized any copyright infringment.

Anyone with 15 minutes to spare, and 1/2 way descent knowledge of Google can find the F9/11 screener or DVD-rip available for download off some bitTorrent network.

Here, I'll even get you started.

Okay, so I see the link to BoingBoing's July 8th torrent page. This guy just feels it's necessary to add a WMV copy for straight download. Aha. Cool. I wonder if he'll mail me a color-inkjet-printed flip-book of the movie, too, with a soundtrack I can pop in my tape recorder. Cause, you know, I don't know how to install a codec.

:P
