Stuck Like Chuck - A Philadelphia writer's sad, brief but captivating observations of another's seemingly constant return to self-destruction; in turn, unflinchingly relating his own struggle.
$100k? I just find it so hard to belive that someone could really blow $100k on drugs one year, and then flee without any hope of getting anything like that again. Ah well.

Sometime ago I lost the ability to have pity for people who start taking a lot of drugs. That's probably more a problem with me, but oh well.

Is a lack of willpower really a disease?
I think that for a lot of people, especialy these 'junkies' it's just that they have nothing else to hope for, nothing else to get enjoyment out life. It's an economic problem more then anything else.
ITS ALL BUSH'S FAULT!
anyway, it's not the drugs, it's the war on drugs. If these people could get cheap heroin at walmart along with their cigaretts this wouldn't even be an issue. Smoking cigs is worse then morphine for your health anyway. (heroin is morhine with two acital groups which make it easier to get through the blood-brain barrier)
/very drunk.

Powerful stuff. A good friend is a recovering addict and has stories like Chuck's. Reminded me too of some bad ol' days of my own. To echo Q, thanks for posting this.
