Tired of glasses that slip down your nose? Then pierce the bridge of your nose with a barbell and attach prescription lenses to it.

That magnetic implant interview is really cool. I bet he sets off metal detectors now.

Regarding the magnetic "vision": that's neat, but it's not vision, really, is it? It's a new sort of tactile sensation, but only one enabled by the presence of the magnet; it's not a new sensation, that is to say, just a new and unique way of using an existing sense. It's really no different, fundamentally, from a telescope or audio surveillance equipment, inasmuch as they all enable people to extend the use of their senses to something which the body isn't designed to perceive. If one could actually see a much wider latitude of electro-magnetic radiation, the world would become quite overwhelming, I would think.

Certainly it's a bit of a word game to call it "vision"... But, it is giving a new sense on a functional level, and because of its integrated "always on" nature, it's a little different in the way your body interprets it than picking up a tool.

The magnetic vision implants have matured a lot since that interview, and should be commercial within a few months.
