"I am your favorite horse." No More Workhorse Blues dir. Harmony Korine
You know, I try to avoid criticising creators who get out there and take risks and do something maybe I couldn't do, even if it seems mediocre. (Except George Lucas, that fucking hack.) But this - and everything Korine's done that I've seen - I could do better than. (The video, not the music - BPB's a genius.)

Seems like a good fit to me, as both the director and the musician are excruciatingly pretentious. I admit Bonnie Prince Billy is talented, however, and that song in particular is pretty nice. Korine, one the other hand, could be out-directed by laser-controlled headless zombie flies.

I like Korine. Gummo more than Julien Donkey-Boy. but he's one of the non-banal ones. at least he's not a Brett Ratner or that other guy, the "Armageddon" person

I quite like the video. Interesting take on the song as well, one I haven't heard before.
And I'm with matteo. I like HK. Gummo is among the best films of the 90s: disturbing, thought provoking, unique; not many American film debuts have such a distinct voice.
Some other Oldham vids here (REAL, unfortunately). Also, this sample from this dvd may be of interest to fans.

I like Korine merely for not giving a fuck what anybody thinks.

A third for Gummo. Quite disturbing but completely unforgettable. Especially when the small town in the movie is like your hometown (like mine).
Haven't seen his other stuff. I do vaguely recall that Harmony Korine went on Letterman years ago and was a complete weirdo during the interview. He would just ramble on incoherently. Anyone see it?
Oh, and I liked the song too. Never heard of BPB.

That was a couple of the most annoying minutes I've ever spent in my life, but I do want to see Gummo some day.

I wish it were for the original version, instead of from Oldham's loathsome album of his own covers. I like it, though.

Its an interesting effect. I only wish Korine would have been more ambitious with it. The music is wonderful!

That was an awful video, unless it got better after the first minute, when I fainted from hating it so much.

In fact, it does get better after the first minute, in my opinion. (the racquetball sequence is a tad too long)

If you like BPB you might like to check out his friend and stable mate Alasdair Roberts (mp3s).

Is this video created using 3d images? I saw something like this at an experimental film festival my brother took me to a few years ago. The filmmaker used 3d slides he bought at a tag sale.
Anyway, Drag City had a link to the video for "I gave you" a few days ago, but it seems to have disappeared. I think that video better complimented the song.
