The Earphones as feet was the wrong decision, throws the whole thing out of whack. Would have been better to use the white heaphone jack lead into an Earphone looking table lamp over the table.

He should buy some PSPs to use as coasters.
....since that's pretty much all they're good for, but that's another discussion all together.

If it doesn't actually work as a 50 terrabyte iPod then I just don't see the point.
He could have at least embedded an LCD screen in the table top.
And the earphone feet distract from the rest of it, points for extra creativity though.

Yeah, those earphone feet are bad design. Why would anyone want a table whose legs add more than a foot to the length?

Designs are best when they remind me of products I like.

The iPod design clearly doesn't scale. I'm going to short Apple stock.

In order to build a functioning computer-based coffee table, you need to build a Java Platform.

Earbud feet - bad.
Lack of clickwheel that doubles as lazy susan - unforgiveable.

I'm in with the rest of the folks saying "if it doesn't work, what's the point?"

That's it, before I ever start a creative decorating project, I'll run it through AskMeFi.

I use a Mac. I love Macs - they're beautiful and functional and intuitive to use. I'll never switch to PC.
But I still hate the cult of the iPod, especially when it takes egregiously dopey forms like this.

Archeologists of the future are going to believe we actually worshipped the things.
Wait! Some of you actually do!

I saw a bit of documentary on Star Trek fan(atic)s yesterday. When's the documentary about Apple fan(atic)s coming out?

OK. I do use a PC. However, I love iPods and I'm thinking about getting a Mac. Just wanted to point out that I am not displaying any anti-Mac bias when I say this: that is one ugly coffee table.
Lack of clickwheel that doubles as lazy susan - unforgiveable
See now, that would have made the ugly bearable.

McSly, that is a nice job but I've gotta say, the white Mr. T in the last picture should have won the costume contest.

1. "if it doesn't work, what's the point?" Exactly. At least if you could plug your own ipod into built in speakers...
2. A rounded over top edge on a coffee table is a disaster waiting to happen.
3. People will trip over the legs, spilling everything on the table.
4. What conceptual relationship does an ipod have with a coffee table anyway?
That said, I bet he could sell a truck load of these things.
