How about a slice of... screen?

Engadget turns 2. There are lots of famous birthdays in March, but I'm willing to bet none of them had cakes quite as elaborate as the ones Engadet fans made.
Well yay for poorly-paid hacks rewriting press releases/other people's content and Google AdSense making the whole mess worthwhile.

Eh, their content doesn't consist of 150 posts about how much republicans suck and why every day. At least they don't claim to be the "best of the web".

One curious thing about engadget -- I read it 3-4x/week -- but yet I'm pretty sure it has never influenced a buying decision or even had me become especially aware of some electronic I wanted to buy....for some reason, cnet -- which is in many a worse site -- does.

I wish the Gadget Blog Corrections Blog was still updated. It made me feel good and let me laugh at the editors of Engadget. Isn't it done by a MeFite?

Much better than the "pat yourself on the back" link I thought it was going to be.

with his functional 1:6 scale Treo 650 cake.
Actually, that's a 6:1 scale cake. Sorry, but if I don't snark about scale, who will?

You know, I'd be really, really impressed by a 1:6 scale Treo cake over an 6:1 scale cake. Especially if it still worked, edible PDA's? Hot damn!

Ah, I see. Thinking on it, I have sensed a certainly snarly continuity in tone, so it's not entirely surprising.
