I found that while googling for Intamin, whose name I saw here, which I got referred to indirectly by this blog entry.

The Web is a great invention for people like me with squirrel brain.

wow, those waterparks are killer.

That's no shit. Anyone growing up in NJ or Eastern PA knew about Action Park. The ads on the teevee made it look great, but deep down, you knew there was something sinister and kind of fucked up about it.

Action Park giveth, and it taketh away.

Our local Great America (now owned by Cedar Fair..woot!) is on there a few times.

Here is another list of accidents.

The Boot to the Head incident was interesting. They found that the guy was carrying stolen identification. (See article from September 15th, 1998) I don't know that they ever positively identified the poor guy.

Whatever you do stay away from the Gravitron. That thing is a menace even when it's not flying apart. The last time I rode it I vomited for five hours straight.

There is a reason why we always called it the Vomitron, JamesToast.

(Friday, October 20, 2006) - A 12-year-old girl was completely scalped when her ponytail got caught in the drive belt of a go-kart engine at Niagara Go-Karts and Mini Putt in Niagra Falls, Ontario, Canada.

Sweet merciful fuck, that is not nice.

Right on, psmealey! I remember speaking of Action Park in the awed tones normally reserved for talk of coal-walking or cobra-wrestling. Brakeless go-karts on long concrete tube tracks? Hmmmm.

Snopes on Disneyland Deaths:
Nine guests have been killed on Disneyland attractions since the park's opening in 1955. All the deaths (save the most recent) were the result of guests who apparently ignored safety instructions and/or defeated rides' safety mechanisms.
Your IQ has to be THIS BIG to get on this ride...

Action Park was mainly before my time, but who would have thought a looping water slide was a good idea?

Whenever I go to Great Adventure, I never fail to hear about the eight teenagers who died in a fire in the haunted house or the young girl who had her scalp ripped off because he long hair was caught in the machine when the car fell.
