Opposites attract

Science says opposites may attract.* So does this cat. *Or, opposites may be less likely to cheat.

Double. Forgot when it was posted, but the puppy's dead, and the cat was trying to see if it was asleep. The voiceover doesn't help lift the grimness of the incident.

The vets tried to resuscitate the pup but gave up and said they couldn't. Luckily, the catscan.

The consensus in the last thread was that the puppy probably wasn't dead, just so you know...

Here's the thread. The "dead puppy" thing was clearly intended as a joke.

*Whew!*

I'm struck by how the article and the researcher equate "sexual chemistry" with "romantic chemistry". In my opinion, the two are often related, but not always, and in any case at least somewhat distinct. For some of us, sexual chemistry and romantic chemistry are quite distinct.

On the other hand, I'm much more inclined than I once was to believe that sexual compatibility is very predictive of long-term relationship resiliency. But back to the first hand, I also think that this is culturally determined—the less there are influences other than personal preference involved in the decision to remain with a mate the less anything other than sexual chemistry matters. On the other hand, even then for many people there may be innately determined factors that weight as heavily, or nearly as heavily, in determining relationship satisfaction.

There were anecedotal arguments in favor of the puppy being alive, but it wasn't very responsive in the video, and people on a number of other forums also questioned the matter.

But back to the first hand

Hadn't seen the kitty video before, but yeah, there is no question that dog is alive. Puppies just sleep like that.

From the article:

Men showed no discrimination when it came to sexual desire toward their partners. That supports the idea that men don’t put as much energy into reproduction. They just copulate when the opportunity arises.

SCIENCE!

These MHC studies have been around awhile, nothing earth-shakingly new about this one. Nice to see the finding reconfirmed though...

I think the dude who did davy's video must re-edit porn for a living. The re-loop it does in the middle was so egregious and jumpy that it almost made me queasy.
