3 young Baltimore figurative painters
Lillian Bayley (toyworld alienation)
Rachel Bone (a saner, calmer Darger)
Alyssa Dennis (bleak figures in a bleak world)
[via New American Paintings]
I should clarify:
This is exactly the kind of post I want to see on MetaFilter.

Well I don't know much about art, but I know what I... Yeah this is what I pay my five bucks for. Filter me the whole internet and bring me back the cool stuff that I don't even know to look for. The Lillian Bayley is really scary.

These are wonderful, esp. Dennis.
Seconding what Area Control said. I wouldn't know how to find great work like this.

New American Paintings is a great institution. If it wasn't so expensive, I'd buy every issue. Barring that I do browse each one I can get my hands on. Good stuff!

Thanks for these links, finally got around to looking at them. I especially like the work Ms. Dennis is producing.
