Filipino-American artist Jhoneil Centeno is a painter, photographer, digital artist, game developer, and bow and arrow maker. He explains his art and his technique. Title quote from Lucid Skin review (NSFW).
I've always wondered how hard it would be for an average person to make a bow. I mean, our savage ancestors managed to do it, it can't be that hard. Seems like a useful skill to pick up.

Go for it, he's nice. I emailed him months ago for permission to use one of his images as an avatar.

An arrow maker is called a "fletcher". Is there a similarly specific word for someone who makes bows?

Cock feather/juvenile
The feather or vane set at right angles to the slot in the nock (also called the index fletch).
