Hark(ness), a panda!

In 1936, the American widow Ruth Harkness became the first person to capture a living panda from the wild.
It does seem pretty relevant, but you'd have to click on a link to see that.

The Lady and the Panda was a good read and I definitely recommend it if you like great white explorer nonfiction titles. Shame about how her life turned out, though.
