Love that. Almost as much as the Shatner version of the song.

wow, it's meta-meta-filter. I thought the original post was pretty interesting, in a "goddamn I'm glad I don't waste that much of my time" kind of way.

Cute. :) It needs *more*, though, it's not by any means finished.

This isn't the first comic book-style adaptation of "Common People" — Jamie Hewlett (of Tank Girl and Gorillaz fame) drew a six-page mini-comic as a companion piece to the single.

Hmm, I always thought it was:
And she just laughed and said "you're so funny"
I said "Yeah? I can't see anyone else smiling in here – are you sure?"
So Archie taught me something, I guess.

Ha, yeah and I thought the line was
'you'll never watch a life
slide out of you'

I'd like to say here and now for the record that Shatner's cover of 'Common People' would be bugfuck awesome on Rock Band.

Ha! That's pretty good! Now we just have to wait for Prince Valiant's take on 'Disco 2000'! (Actually, the idea of Archie returning for 'This is Hardcore' will give me nightmares!)

heh...in a prime example of just how YMMV, I am *totally* looking forward to Archie returning for 'This Is Hardcore"....

It's not Shatner's cover, it's Ben Folds' cover.

And the counterpoint between Shatner and Joe Jackson is what really sells the song.

Shatners fun and all, but really people, the original is the best.

From the same blog, the final issue of Li'l Bruce Wayne is awesome.

The first issue of the last Punisher story by Ennis is in stores today.

Something that is also noted on the blog.

Best currently running monthly comic bar none. >sniff<

I got enough of a kick out of this that I killed a couple hours tonight and turned it into a short music video.

Nope. Sorry. Pulp can suck it. The Folds / Shatner / Jackson version blows that fey little wanker Jarvis Cocker the fuck out of the water.

It's ... well, it's Pulp's song. You can't beat Jarvis singing with that passionate edge in his voice about his own perspective. But Shatner does bring something unique to it. I'll check back later and tell you if I can figure out what it is.

(Love both versions.)
