Strawberry May Face Prison Time Just another celebrity drug addict, like Downey jr.? Or does he really deserve special treatment because of his cancer patient status?

I don't think having cancer should be a Get Out of Jail Free card. But then, as we've discussed just recently, I think someone with Strawberry's history of addiction is not "bad" but "sick", and prison is not the place for him.

Prison may, however, be necessary in his case: only because traditional treatment programs have been tried, and failed. I don't think it should be anything but a last resort, though. "For his own protection" is so statist.

Well, I know I mentioned it before in response to the Downey Jr. article. But it's amusing to play "Who is more likely to be arrested?" at celebritybattles.com. Both Darryl Strawberry and Robert Downey Jr. are participants.
