Pierre Teilhard de Chardin's global consciousness ... is it for the birds?
When someone begins to talk about "the purpose of evolution" then he has entered GodLand theme park-entertaining but a brief stop off from reality.

Postroad's comments fully acknowledged, this article still gave me chills. It gives me hope for the future.
This is the way that the study of ecology should work, perhaps the only way it can work: organized from the bottom up rather than the top down.
(Perhaps I'm biased because I've been getting more and more interested in birds lately? Or because I'm a deChardin fan from way back?) Still.
