Joshi (a slideshow).
High in the Hindu Kush, north of troubled Swat and just South of Chitral are three valleys where the last of the Kalasha people live, and the legend of Alexander is strong. No census has been performed since 1998, but most experts put the current Kalasha population at about 3,000. ( wiki ).

Great slideshow. The pictures of the valley look a lot like the Leh Valley in the Indian Himalayas.

Nice! I spent a bit of time in Rumbur with this family (1 2 3). The only annoyance in the valley occurs when extremely unwelcome packs of Punjabi tourists disturb the peace by ripping through on their motorbikes. I suggest reading the book - Kaffirs of the Hindu Kush.

Lovely photos, thanks adamvasco!

I think they're particularly like the Dah Hanu area on the Indus, in western Ladakh.

The Kalash have an interesting winter solstice festival that has echoes across the western Himalayas, including Ladakhi Losar.

I've wanted to go to Chitral for quite a few years now. I love the Parvati Valley in India, and so it seemed natural to head over to Pakistan. Unfortunately, I waited too long, and now the situation has gotten pretty rough... It's going to take -years- for things to calm down there.
