Crafty and well done! I'd be amused to see something like this in place of captcha letters.

Haha! Neat! It's strange, but that kind of artistic ingenuity always brightens my day.

Say, they should make a whole series of these for different countries. It would be excellent. I'd do it, but I can barely read a non-satellite map, let alone analyze and find letters in Google images.

Looks like the same thing was done earlier for Victoria, Australia.

I'd like to see this in IPA. In chart order. Including Clicks and Diacritics and all the good stuff. It'd be cool if the pictures came from all over the world. That would make my nerd heart really happy.

So, what is that giant pit used as the 'O'? I see the key references it to Vukovar, which is apparently a Croatian town with a pretty rough history. Searching for 'Vukovar Hole' or 'Vukovar pit' tends to pull up references to the 'death pit' at the nearby Jasenovac concentration camp from WWII, but I doubt that could be it... could it?

That 'O' doesn't look terribly sinister to me.
