Steel Harmony performing "Transmission" by Joy Divison

Steel Harmony performing "Transmission" by Joy Divison at a parade. (SLYT 4.22 minutes)
This is a pretty interesting video and not really because of the steel band, although they are pretty great, but that the person filming this walks all the way down the parade route with the band. He captures the paradegoers as well as the band. Watch for the family covering their ears, the police whistle and the jogging police, and then a different camera pointed at this one.

i like when covers sound nothing like the original and when the cover isn't a "punk" version of the song (ala me first & the gimmie gimmies. FTS) this was great.

(This coming from someone born in MCR and saw Joy Division way back then) I watched this some months ago and was blown away. Best cover version ever.

Wow this takes Joy Division's self-loathing and crying in my bathroom at 3AM and puts a lime in in the coconut!
I see your Joy Division and raise you a The Esso Trinidad Steel Band - I Want You Back!

Also, props to the cameraperson as this would be tricky to film in a crowd like that. Kudos!

Here's a longer Love Will Tear Us Apart
I was listening to this and my husband comes in the room and asks me what I was listening to. I tell him it was Joy Division, and he listens for a while and then smiles, recognizing it. He leaves the room and comes back 10 minutes later. "You're still listening to that?"

Mr. Mobile Bassie does Hooky proud, but the walking camera was disorienting.
Makes me want to go to Panorama all over again.
