NPR is streaming the sets from the Newport Jazz Festival. Highlights include Dave Douglas' Brass Ecstasy, Marshall Allen with Joe Morris and Matthew Shipp, Ken Vandermark's Powerhouse Sound, and Rez Abbasi.
Listening to the Maria Schneider Orchestra now. Very nice.

The Schneider Orchestra is great! Unfortunately though, we get nothing of the performances by Chick Corea, or Herbie Hancock or Brubeck, but I suppose that's understandable, given their status and whatever their contracts do and don't allow.

Thanks for this! Just finished listening to Julian Lage - very cool jazz/country/world/etc. guitar player with a cellist and hand percussion. But better than that sounds. Ken Vandermark''s up next.
