I remember the dowdy, long-wearing little Pringle sweaters of my childhood; despite the tone affected by the film, Pringle seems to be primarily high-end now, and largely made outside Scotland. And Burberry used to be a raincoat company, and Coach made bags distinguished by their quality, and I should just not think about it.

I hate sweaters. And I think all models should be thin and beautiful. And -- goat penis? But I love this ad.

I believe this post should carry the NSFW tag. Not only does it feature goat balls, big ticks and hard-rocking grannies, but a man leaves his bagpipe in the rain.
The video PinkMoose linked to has Tilda Swinton. That's not safe at any speed.

Wonderful!
And this would be a good chance to post a link to David Shrigley's "Don'ts" (I fantasize about an askme question to which this is the ultimate answer)

The sweaters are, of course, shipped in bundles of ninety packed into large cylindrical cans.

That was damn funny. Me and the missus enjoyed it thoroughly. Of course she knew about Pringle, and of course I'd never heard of it. But they are now my favorite manufacturer of jumpers. I call them jumpers.

So good. I love that it was mostly pointless digressions.
Classic Shrigley. My wife and I mention this video every time my dad gets out his leaf blower (he loves that thing).

I can confirm that it is fucking pissing it down in Scotland right now. I can only assume that the rest of the video is also completely accurate.

That bagpipe in the rain is just waiting to be part of a Weird Al parody of that horrid, annoying dong about someone leaving a cake in the rain.

That was super funny. I love my Pringle jumper, despite that it's full of holes and that it is not one, but two colors that look just awful on me. It has a lion on it!

Great stuff. Pringle got a real boost with a revival in the 70s/80s casual culture having struggled for a while.

The knitters of my acquaintance have been raving over this one for months now -- probably one of the best online videos I've ever seen! There's an excellent book on the history of Pringle, by the way, if anyone's interested. I've got a copy and it's great.

Huh? No they're not. They're made in Scotland. I've looked everywhere on the internet, and I can't find one made in China; nor can I find any mention of them being made in China. Apparently you used to be able to get 'Pringle of Scotland' sweaters that were made in Italy if you went out of your way to buy them at Niemann Marcus, but that seems to have been a one-off thing.
Do you have a cite for this? I'd be interested.
